HIMSS12 exhibit floor has something for everyone

LAS VEGAS — Without a doubt the exhibit floor at HIMSS12 will be one-stop-shopping for all things health IT.

As Elli Riley, HIMSS Director of Exhibits & Meeting Services, put it, “This will be a dynamic year on the show floor. It is an exciting time in the industry, and the HIMSS12 exhibition will have something for everyone.”

That “something for everyone” comes from more than 1,100 exhibitors, representing thousand of healthcare IT products and services that HIMSS12 attendees will be able to learn about. Moreover, HIMSS12 will feature more than 200 new products, and over 300 exhibitors will be showcasing their healthcare IT products for the first time at a HIMSS conference.

Among the new features at HIMSS12 are six, powerhouse Knowledge Centers (http://www.himssconference.org/exhibition/knowledgeCenters.aspx) . These are a combination of education sessions, vendor case studies, one-on-one meet the expert sessions and exhibition booths that will give attendees a close look at the topics of Accountable Care Organizations/Value-based Purchasing, Mobile Health, Mobile Device Integration, Clinical and Business Analytics/Intelligence, Cloud Computing, and ICD-10.

Also featured, Riley pointed out, is the HIMSS Interoperability Showcase (http://www.himssconference.org/exhibition/interop.aspx) “that will host learning opportunity sessions with over 90 companies showcasing how their product is interoperable with a range of other health IT products.”

Attendees who want more hands on experience will want to check out the Intelligent Hospital Pavilion. Designed to provide an overview of several technologies seamlessly integrated to provide clinicians with ‘real-time’ patient information that can be delivered to their smartphones or tablets, the Pavilion will be showcasing multiple different RFID, RTLS and NFC (Near Field Communication) products.

Finally, in addition to countless new products and services, for HIMSS12 attendees who are thinking of moving to a different level in their health IT career, the Career Services Center (http://www.himssconference.org/career/CareerServiceCenter.aspx) will be available for job searches, for meetings with recruiters, or for those who just want to attend sessions that will help them brush up their survival skills in the ever-changing health IT work environment.
