Hand-held and mobile technologies are driving forces in healthcare and Sprint Nextel CEO Dan Hesse has a few ideas for the healthcare industry on the subject. Hesse will be sharing his techno-acumen in the Thomas Murphy Ballroom.
Offering a preview of his presentation, Hesse said his central theme is about “how mobility is a key enabler of the overall transformation that the healthcare industry is currently undergoing.” A key facet of his address will be “how 4G will be an important part of providing innovative healthcare solutions in the near future.”
Hesse was named CEO of Sprint Nextel in December 2007. Prior to his appointment at Sprint, he served as chairman and CEO of Embarq Corporation, a $6 billion company which provided voice, data, wireless and entertainment services in 18 states. From 2000 to 2004, Hesse served as chairman, president and CEO of Terabeam, a wireless telecommunications service provider and technology company.
Hesse spent 23 years at AT&T. From 1997 to 2000, he served as the president and CEO of AT&T Wireless Service – at the time the largest wireless carrier in the U.S. He is credited with launching AT&T’s global online initiatives, which included the AT&T Worldnet family of Internet services.
From 1991 to 1995, he was based in the Netherlands as president and CEO of AT&T Network Systems International, a joint-venture telecommunications technology company with revenues of $2 billion. He also held prior AT&T management assignments in Network Operations, Network Engineering, International Services, Human Resources, Strategic Planning, Product Management and Sales.
