Linenger’s keynote to take the long view

Few have seen our world from a truly objective vantage; however, Jerry Linenger’s time in orbit has afforded him a uniquely clear perspective. A NASA astronaut who logged nearly five months aboard the Russian space station Mir, Linenger is also a licensed MD, retired Navy flight surgeon, and holds a doctorate in epidemiology and master’s degrees in both systems management and public health policy.

Quaid to address ‘broken healthcare system’

CHICAGO — In November of 2007, the newborn twins of celebrated actor Dennis Quaid and his wife Kimberly were twice administered massive overdoses of the anticoagulant heparin. The twins survived, after an extended crisis during which their doctors at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center struggled to save them, but sadly the error was not an isolated one.
