The Dodge Communications Guide to Atlanta’s Best: 10 Terrific Lunch Spots

Lunch can mean many things to many people. In Atlanta the chances are you’ll find just what you’re looking for, whether you’re eating-while-meeting or simply searching for a quick fix. From power lunches to po-boys, here are some of our favorites.

Atlanta Grill
: Classy Southern food in a warm, clubby atmosphere. Located in the downtown Ritz-Carlton Hotel. 404.659.0400, 181 Peachtree St. NE, Atlanta, GA 30303, www.ritzcarlton.com/en/Properties/Atlanta/Dining/AtlantaGrill

Bobby and June’s Kountry Kitchen: Straightforward Southern food. Sort of like a more authentic, down-to-earth version of Cracker Barrel. 404.876.3872, 375 14th St. Northwest, Atlanta, GA 30318.

Buckhead Diner: A retro diner that’s gone gourmet. Homemade potato chips with warm Maytag blue cheese are a signature item. They don’t take reservations, but you can reduce your wait time by about half if you call ahead or use OpenTable.com to put your name on the list for priority seating. 404.262.3336, 3073 Piedmont Rd., Atlanta, GA 30305, www.buckheadrestaurants.com/diner.html

Carver’s Country Kitchen: Lines start forming at 11:00 AM for this popular Southern “meat and three” lunch spot  -  the “three” are your choice of two sides and one bread offering. Expect crowds and comfort food. Desserts are great, if by some miracle you save room for them. 404.794.4410, 1118 W. Marietta St. NW, Atlanta, GA 30318, www.carverscountrykitchen.com

Eats: Cheap-but-good grub in a cafeteria-style setting. Jerk chicken and pasta are the specialties. Go for the food, not the decor. 404.888.9149, 600 Ponce de Leon Ave., Atlanta, GA 30308, www.eatsonponce.net

Five Seasons Brewing: An upscale casual setting with lots of beer and a menu that rises above your typical bar fare. One downtown location, with additional branches in Sandy Springs and Alpharetta. www.5seasonsbrewing.com

Goldberg’s Bagel Company and Deli: They’ve been serving their famous po-boys since 1972, but offer lots of other options from soups and sandwiches to bagels and burgers. Great for breakfast, too. Five area locations. www.goldbergsdeli.net

Henri’s Bakery
: Locals have been enjoying the deli sandwiches and po-boys here for more than 80 years. Great breakfast pastries and desserts as well. The original is in Buckhead, but there’s also a newer location near the Perimeter area. www.henrisbakery.com

Souper Jenny: Soups, sandwiches and salads. Vegan and vegetarian selections available. Cafeteria-style service featuring servers who are local theatre performers. Closed on Sundays. 404.237.7687 (office), 404.239.9023 (menu hotline), 56 E. Andrews Dr. NW, Atlanta, GA 30305, www.souperjennyatl.com (The entrance can be found on Cains Hill, which runs between E. Andrews and Irby.)

Sunflower Cafe: Their vegetarian and vegan fare is good enough to convert carnivores. Pleasant atmosphere and service, too. Two locations: South Buckhead and Sandy Springs. www.cafesunflower.com
