CHICAGO — HIMSS09 is debuting five Synergy Programs.
“The new Synergy Sessions educational programs are designed to expand the educational offerings offered to senior executives, nurses, physicians, management engineer-process improvement professionals and federal health sector professionals during annual conference,” said Marilyn Geary, director of HIMSS’ AC Education. ”They will provide themed discussion for those niche audiences and will run concurrently with other education sessions.”
The education offerings, all on Sunday morning, April 5, prior to the opening keynote address, will feature interactive learning, discussion and best-practice sharing.
HIMSS created the Federal Health Community to bring together HIMSS members who work for federal agencies, said Tom Leary, senior director of Federal Affairs for HIMSS. The breakfast and three education sessions for Federal Health Sector Professionals were designed to promote networking and improve programs by coordinating and collaborating among professionals within the various federal agencies, he said.
Aimed to maximize the educational experience in two days, the Physicians/CMIOs synergy program should appeal to the many academic medical organizations in the Chicago area who may only be able to attend the conference during the weekend, said Pat Wise, vice president of Healthcare Information Systems for HIMSS.
Local physicians can partake in the symposia on Saturday and the synergy program on Sunday morning, hear the opening keynote address on Sunday afternoon and see vendors and products when the exhibition hall opens Sunday afternoon. “They can have the best of all worlds,” Wise said.
